Baby Got Duck! |
|
|
|
A new song just for you...
I like big ducks and I cannot lie
You other mallards can't deny
That when a duck waddles in with those sunglasses on
Her yellow feathers shining in the sun
You wanna adopt!

Cheddar the Duck Dog |

Cheddar the Duck Dog has been helping sell ducks for the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin for years! She has been seen at parades, selling locations and even Chamber events. Shown here with her sister, Lauren, Cheddar was helping sell ducks outside of the West Dundee Jewel. She worked hard and was actually rewarded by some shoppers who stopped and gave her dog bones!
Cheddar feels pretty in her costume, although the hat can easily become a chew toy if not watched closely.
Cheddar thinks you should adopt your ducks on line right now!

Duckapalooza History |
|
|
|
You may wonder how the Duckapalooza event began. Until 2 years ago, we held a Duck Race that was always tied to another organization's event. Two years ago the Duck Cabinet decided to jump out on our own with a Music Fesitval. We gave ourselves rocker names (like Big Daddy, Snake and Naughty Kitty) and ran with it.
We learned so much last year about timing, the kinds of music people want and how to pull a ton of volunteers together for a day. We ended the day exhausted, but much wiser!
Last year the Duck Pluck was also born. With the river too high for us to have boats in the water, we came up with the idea to dump all of the ducks in the Festival Fountain. We picked kids out of the audience and they raced into the fountain to grab a winning duck. The kids loved it! They loved it so much they all jumped in the fountain and picked up every last duck for us when it was time to clean up. The duck were all clean and happy. The kids were all wet and happy. The adult volunteers were dry and VERY happy. So we now have the Duck Pluck smack dab in the middle of the Duckapalooza fesitval - you do not want to miss it!
